Sugar icing fungus (1098/2613)

Sugar icing fungus (Beauvieria bassiana) on a chafer beetle (Stethaspis suturalis). The fungus infects the beetle while it is still alive, and when the insect finally succumbs it grows out through gaps in its exoskeleton.
