Chaffinch (2/5)

A female chaffinch perched on a cypress branch could be mistaken for a sparrow, but the chaffinch's white wing-bars are always an easy identifier. The chaffinch, introduced from Europe, has adapted well to New Zealand and is now one of our most widespread birds, found throughout, from lowland urban gardens and parks to intact mountainous native forest.
