Blue duck (1609/2613)

The bluish grey colour of blue ducks/whio make them well camouflaged when feeding in fast flowing mountain streams. The loss of such habitat—through human activity like forest clearance and water diversion and damming—is one of the main reasons for their decline since human arrival.
