Issue 110 of New Zealand Geographic will be in stores early next week. In it you’ll find a feature on the gumlands of Northland, illustrated with my photos. Author Mark Smale writes “Once, a vast kauri forest stood on the Aupouri Peninsula, letting organic matter and resin to the forest floor over eons.
