A spur-winged plover family at a local, and very public pond presented a great opportunity to photograph this often wary and aggressive species without adding stress at this sensitive time.

It’s spring time, so that means it’s tui time! Kowhai is in peak blossom around here and tui love it. On Friday I went out to try to improve on the hundreds of tui photos I already have, and I came away with one of my favourites to date.
