Grey duck (1035/2613)

Grey ducks prefer small lakes, slow rivers and other wetlands surrounded by forest (such as this bird on a calm South Island lake surrounded by dense native forest) rather than the agriculture which has replaced most of their former habitat. The superficially similar mallard is the duck commonly seen on urban lakes.
